The hotel & more group has committed itself to reducing its carbon footprint.
As the first step of our long-term green strategy, we intend to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions resulting from our operations by supporting domestic forest planting. Studies show that an average Hungarian's carbon footprint is approximately 6-7 tons of carbon dioxide per year, which can be absorbed in one year by around 2000 native trees that are over 50 years old and in good health.
Currently, only 25% of Hungary's land is covered by forests, which is why we consider it our important mission to contribute to the improvement of the natural state of Hungarian forests and ecosystems. In pursuit of this noble goal, we have joined the Climate Action initiative to transform Hungarian forests with native tree species. This transformation makes the forests more resilient to the effects of climate change, leading to an increase in the size of Hungarian forest areas, biodiversity, and the quantity of native tree species. We also want to draw the attention of our guests to the importance of reducing their carbon footprint. In addition to the group itself supporting the planting of forests in Hungary, we want to provide our guests with the opportunity to offset the carbon footprint generated during their hotel stays.
Our hotel is also participating in this initiative, so our guests have the opportunity to purchase tree seedlings (Hungarian sessile oak, Hungarian common oak, linden, maple, and rowan) at a discounted rate. These trees will be used to replace the poorly maintained trees in the pine and locust forest of Pusztavám. The resulting mixed-species forest can be sustained for up to 90-110 years.
We hope that with our initiative, we can draw the attention of as many of our guests as possible to the importance of tree planting and, in doing so, contribute to delaying the adverse effects of climate change.
We warmly welcome you to our hotel and encourage you to reduce your carbon footprint during your stay!
